NYX Black Label Lipstick in Nude Review and Swatches

First off, Happy Lunar New Year to those who celebrate it.  Today review is on NYX Black Label Lipstick in Nude.

Price: $6

Pros: I am a girly girl, I like cute packaging, I like my gift nicely wrapped, my hubby knows. I like the lace print on this lipstick, it is sexy and grown up. I also like the clear bottom with lipstick shade indicator, it make easy to spot what you are looking for when you have a bunch of them in a basket or something.

Years ago, I made a few bad drugstore lipstick purchases, they smell and taste awful. I stopped purchase lipstick and lipgloss from drugstore for awhile, but I am now starting to warm up to it again…slowly, very slowly. Let me tell you, this does not disappoint. It is moisturizing, it glides on beautifully, and coverage is builable. I also like that it is not dead matte, it has a subtle sheen to it.

Cons: If you can grab these in store, great. If you have to order online, the swatches for them are not very good.

Overall: I am a happy buyer and will purchase more in the future. I have dry lips so it is very important to me that this does not dry my lips. I also like that this shade of nude is nude without making me look all wash out like a ghost. Rating 4.5/5

Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation Spf 30 Review

I have tried mineral foundation before, Bare Mineral and Everyday Mineral but didn’t like them enough to jump onto the bandwagon. Will Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation Spf 30 change my mind?

Price: $28/8.5 grams, available at Korres.com or Sephora.

Shade: It comes in 4 shades. I bought the second shade, Light, which is currently a little dark for me.  Light is approximately NC25.

Pros: For starter, it is talc and bismuth oxychloride free which is great for those who are sensitive to these ingredients. It also contains wild rose extract, which is a potent natural source of Vitamin C. The high Spf 30 is also much appreciated.

First thing I notice about this powder foundation is how creamy it is. It is so creamy, non-drying, non powdery that I couldn’t even tell I am wearing powder. The coverage is light, probably build-able and the finish is satiny. Also very important is at the end of the day; it doesn’t fade or look blotchy. It comes with a sponge but I have only apply it with my Ecotool retractable kabuki (I love that brush).

Cons: I feel like it doesn’t cover my redness as well as a liquid foundation. For special occasion where I want to look flawless, I think I will always stick with liquid or cream foundation. However, for everyday use, I think this is a great option.

Overall: I wore this for about a week but stop because it is a tad too dark for my skin tone right now. I can see myself reaching for this more when the weather warm up because it is just so light, natural, and gives such beautiful finish. To sum it up, this is probably the best mineral foundation I have tried to date. Rating: 4.5/5.

Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector Review

Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Corrector is a serum treatment that promises to lighten hyper pigmentation and give even skin tone. I have some sun spots mainly on my cheeks from summer and two weeks in the South Pacific that I wanted to remove.

Price: $49/1oz.  Available at Clinique counters or Sephora.

Pros: I really like the feel of this, my skin feel very soft and smooth after I applied this. It also provides light hydration. I also like that it contain antioxidant such as turmeric. Turmeric is a very good antioxidant but it is not widely found in many products.

Cons: I don’t like that Clinique does not list the ingredients on their website. What more important is probably whether it works or not. I applied this once a day, sometime twice a day, consistently for 4 weeks and saw no result. I decided to stick it out for another two weeks so I used this for a total of 6 weeks but unfortunately, I still did not see any visible improvement in lightening or diminishing of my freckles and sun spots.

Overall: I think this is an either love or hate product. My mom has a lot of discoloration on her cheeks and this treatment provided beautiful result. One of her large patch has reduced by 50% and all the smaller spots are faded or significantly lighter and her skin looks more even tone. Unfortunately for me, other than the nice silky feeling I received from this serum, there was no improvement in lightening my sun spots. It didn’t work for one of my girlfriend either. Since it seems to work for some and not other, I would give it an average rating. Rating 3/5.

Calvin Klein Euphoria for Men Review

 

You are probably wondering, how is she going to rate a men product?  Well I am not.  My very supportive husband review this for me and this is what he has to say:

Calvin Klein's Euphoria is a new scent for men described as having an "aromatic oriental blend with crisp and spicy accents and a sexy, rich signature".  I can definitely attest to the crisp spicy scents when you first spray it on, with subtle hints of ginger and lemongrass.  It gets better and better as the day/night goes on.  The scent, once mixed with your body chemistry, turns into nice sweet notes of patchouli, sage, and brown sugar.


I love this as my winter fragrance. I feel like in the cold weather it smells even more crisp and fits better.  I would be comfortable wearing this for either daytime or evening.
